Two suspected robbers were killed early Wednesday during a gunfight between law enforcers and a robber gang in Gajra area of Matlab in Chandpur.
The dead are identified as Mofiz, 47, and Habu, 30.
Officer-in-charge of Matlab north police station Alamgir Hossain Majumdar said on a tip-off that a group of robbers were preparing to commit a robbery in Gajra area, a team of police went to the spot around 3:30am. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the gang fired gunshots on the police while police also retaliated triggering the gunfight.
The duo was declared dead after taking to Matlab Health Complex, the OC said.
The police also recovered some bullets, machetes and sharp weapons from the spot.
