The Election Commission (EC) has allotted ‘letter box’ symbol to the Uttarakhand Parivartan Party (UPP) for the upcoming Assembly elections.

PC Tewari, president of the UPP, while addressing a press conference in this regard here today, said “We are glad that the Election Commission has given us such a motivating symbol for the elections. Letter box is the best medium for conversation in the rural areas and our party is also working to spread awareness in the remote areas of Uttarakhand. Our party has also welcomed the High Court’s decision to ban the use of liquor during elections. We hope that the Election Commission, local administration and political parties will follow the order firmly.”

Tewari slammed both the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) and Progressive Democratic Front (PDF) for betraying the people of the state. He alleged that these parties had supported the Congress and BJP in their scams. But the upcoming elections would bring a change in the politics of Uttarakhand, he stated.

Tewari also released the first list of the party’s candidates for the Assembly elections. Prabhat Dyani from Ramnagar, Surendra Singh Nigaltiya from Kaladhungi, Gangagiri Goswami from Champawat, Narayan Rawat from Salt, Prem Sundriyal from Chobattakhal, Gyanveer Tyagi from Mussoorie and Rajkumar Tyagi from Raipur will contest elections on UPP ticket. AP Juyal, Yodhraj Tyagi and Bhargav Chandola were also present during the news conference.
