Commemorating the 350th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji (founder of the Khalsa Panth), a grand Nagar Kirtan was organised by the Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society. It began with the ardas performed by Head Granthi Giani Jagtar Singh.
The Nagar Kirtan was led by Panj Piyaras, followed by tableaus of Sri Guru Granth Sahib bedecked with flowers. The grand Nagar Kirtan displayed the royalty with elephants, horses, Gatka jathas, kirtan teams and band teams from various schools.
A large number of students and teachers from Sri Guru Harkrishan Sr. Secondary School, GT Road, Basant Avenue, Majitha Road By Pass, Ranjit Avenue, Golden Avenue, Sultanwind Link Road, Prag Das, Bhagtanwala, Friends Avenue, Majh Wind, Chabhal, Ajnala, Nawan Pind, Tarn Taran, Rasool Pur, Patti, the CKD Institute of Management and Technology and CKD Nursing College along with Sikh scholars and other social personalities took part in it.
The Nagar Kirtan passed through GT Road, Bhandari Bridge, Hall Gate and finally reached Golden Temple. Refreshment stalls were installed in the school and enroute.
Charanjit Singh Chadha, president, CKDCS, said the Chief Khalsa Diwan is committed to connect the new generation to the Sikh values and religious roots through such religious programmes. On this occasion, a book named “Guru Gobind Singh Ji — A Saga of Valour and Sacrifice” and CDs of a light and sound programme depicting the life and history of Guru Sahib were released.
Dignitaries, who participated in the Nagar Kirtan were vice-president Dhanraj Singh, resident president Nirmal Singh, secretary Narinder Singh Khurana, Harminder Singh, Santokh Singh Sethi along with other eminent CKD members and principals.
