Former Himachal Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition P K Dhumal today lashed out at the Congress for opposing demonetisation and asked the party leaders to categorically state that “whether they are for or against black money”.

“Demonetisation only affected those who shielded terrorism, hoarders, black marketers, dalals and people running fake note rackets while the common man and honest people are in favour of it and stood behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi”, he said alleging that the Congress was playing politics on the pretext that it had caused hardship to common man.

Claiming that the Union government was forced to take the decision to demonetize big currency as the Congress only formulated policies which served the interests of rich people, Dhumal said that as a result of these policies pursued over the past 60 years, the gap between rich and poor widened to such an extent that today out of 125 crore population, only 60 lakh people have more than Rs 7 lakh crore in their possession.

Accusing the Congress of usurping power many a time by exploiting the name of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar but never implementing his economic policies, Dhumal said that Dr Ambedkar was of clear view that “If India has to emerge as a global economic power, currency must be changed every 10 years”.

The Modi government not only followed the ideology of Dr Ambedkar but also launched “Bhim Aap” which has been downloaded by 5-lakh people in just two days, he added.

Government has betrayed youth, says former CM

Hamirpur: Former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal said that the Congress government in the state had not only betrayed the youth in the state but had also failed to keep the promises it had made in its manifesto. He was addressing a gathering at Village Tauni Devi.

He said the Congress had promised to give unemployment allowance to the youth in the state but it had neither given unemployment allowance nor generated sufficient employment opportunities to youth. He said that despite huge funding from the Centre and new schemes for the youth the state government did not initiate any programme for the youth in the state.

Dhumal Said that the state government deliberately delaying the development projects sanctioned by the Centre government for the state.
