RAJKOT: A 35-year-old woman, who had suffered serious burns after being set ablaze by her in-laws in Gondal, died at Rajkot civil hospital on Monday.
The woman Chhaya Valambhiya was allegedly set ablaze by four persons at their house in Krishna Society in Gondal’s Bhagwatpara area on December 30. Police sources said that the in-laws suspected her of stealing Rs 2,100 that was missing from the house since a few days.

“After heated exchanges over the issue, Chhaya’s brother-in-law Manish, his wife Sunita, mother-in-law Kanchan and her husband’s sister Meena Sagasara poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze,” police said.
Her husband Jaysukh is a carpenter and it was second marriage for both. “We had lodged a complaint of attempt to murder and now we have booked all four of her in-laws for murder. She had also named them in her dying statement,” said police.
