With the history books now closed out for 2016, score a big feather in the cap for Wisconsin native Rick Magee, who topped all North American Harness drivers with a final UDRS average of .372 from his 459 drives.
Rick, who finished 2nd in the Final Driver standings at Running Aces this past season, and is among the top 3 drivers in every category on the all-time list at the Columbus, Minnesota oval, tallied 97 wins , 91 seconds and 69 thirds during 2016.
He posted the highest UDRS in the land for drivers with a similar number of starts. He finished in the top 3 a whopping 56% of the time during those 459 trips to the gate, most of them at Running Aces with additional starts at the Minnesota and Wisconsin fairs.
During an interview this season at Running Aces, we asked Rick which he liked more, training or driving horses? He told us that while he has come to love training and especially developing young horses, there's nothing like the thrill of being a Driver.
Rick Magee continues to provide thrills to his many fans at Running Aces year after year.
The 2017 season of Live Harness Racing action at Running Aces Casino & Racetrack will get underway on May 20th, and you can bet that Rick will continue his winning ways, and who knows, he may be at the top of that North American list yet again next year as the smart money says he'll be right there at the wire.
