Patiala MP and leader of Punjab Front Dr Dharamvira Gandhi, who had been so far maintaining distance from the Aam Aadmi Party candidates, today said their front would support honest candidates of the party on seats which they won’t contest in the upcoming Assembly elections.

He also announced to support Kanwar Sandhu who is contesting on Aam Aadmi Party ticket from Kharar.

While releasing a list of 11 candidates of his party during a press conference here, he said Sandhu was the only one who spoke against the “dictatorship” of AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, when Sucha Singh Chhotepur was sacked. He said Sandhu was the only one who had refused to sign the resolution to sack Chhotepur.

He said his front was supporting Sandhu despite the fact that they had a suitable candidate for Kharar constituency. He said they would not field any candidate from Kharar.

He also said that his front would support honest candidates, including those from AAP, from constituencies where they are not fielding their own candidates.

Meanwhile, the Lok Punjab Front released a list of 11 candidates — Jatinder Singh Chopra from Jalandhar Central, Gurprashad Thapa from Jalandhar West, Gursewak Antal from Ghanaur, Binder Singh from Budhlada, Sumandar Singh from Bassi Pathana, Germanjeet Singh from Nihal Singh Wala, Surinderpal Singh from Bhucho Mandi, Kanwaljeet Singh from Baba Bakala, Ravinderpal Kaur from Faridkot, Balwinder Singh Kumbhra from Mohali and Kulwinder Singh from Shutrana. Gandhi said their candidates would contest on the election symbol “saw”, which has been allotted to Democratic Swaraj Party. Democratic Swaraj Party is also part of the front.
