Besart Berisha goal video: Melbourne Victory striker breaks all-time A-League scoring record

HE’S done it!

Finally Besart Berisha has scored his 91st A-League goal to become the all-time top scorer, but it wasn’t without controversy in Melbourne Victory’s 4-2 win over Newcastle Jets.

Stepping up to convert a penalty against in the 30th minute on Monday night, the decision to punish John Koutroumbis for a handball appeared harsh according to Fox Sports commentator Andy Harper.

“I don’t know about that,” he exclaimed after seeing a replay of the incident.

“It’s chest! I don’t reckon that’s a penalty ... I’m convinced it’s NOT a penalty.”

And just minutes after Berisha gave his side the lead, Marco Rojas struck to make it 2-0 at half time. Second half goals from Fahid Ben Khalfallah and James Troisi, plus two for Jets’ Ma Leilei and Wayne Brown, wrapped up a six-goal epic.

Having equalled Archie Thompson’s tally of 90 goals with his dramatic match winner in the Melbourne Derby, Berisha was left frustrated and goalless against Central Coast before finally breaking the record.
