Thecus Expands Its Enterprise Line-Up With Two Intel-Based Network Attached Windows Storage Servers

The need for reliable, fast, easily-accessible (and managed) storage is increasing at a rapid pace, as users generate more and more data on a daily basis. Network-attached storage solutions represent a relatively simple solution, with products targeting a wide-range of use cases.

Thecus Technology offers a variety of Network Attached Servers (NAS), for both consumer and enterprise applications. And as 2016 drew to a close, the company launched a new pair of high-end, enterprise-class servers, featuring an array of advanced technologies, the Thecus W12910SAS and W16910SAS.

Both the W12910SAS and W16910SAS are Windows-based, rack-mountable NAS devices. They are SATA 6G and SAS 12G-ready 12-bay and 16-bay devices, respectively (as evidenced by the first two digits in their model numbers), outfitted with server-grade hardware, running Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Standard. The devices target large-scale enterprise or data-heavy medium business applications, and because they’re running Windows, the learning curve for most IT departments is relatively small.

“Thecus’ latest Windows enterprise-class rackmounts, the W12910SAS and W16910SAS, provide big business ultra-fast performance, high-scalability and reliability,” said Florence Shih, General Manager of Thecus Technology Corp. “The Windows OS architecture is world renowned for aiding business success in big business.”

The W12910SAS and W16910SAS are powered by Intel Skylake-based Xeon E3-1245 v5 processors with clocks up to 3.5GHz, paired to 16GB of DDR4 ECC RAM (upgradable to 64 GB), and 60GB of solid state storage for their operating systems. They are also 10GbE ready, and offer support for the latest high-capacity 10TB hard disk drives and large capacity solid state drives.
