The Nadi Aviators are looking forward to playing against the Snax Tigers from Papua New Guinea in the Melanesian Club Championships on February 17 at Lawaqa Park.

Head coach Vela Tawake said they are looking forward to playing their Melanesian counterpart.

“The boys are currently doing their own training until we’ve our fitness tests and everything seems to be going well,” Tawake said.

“This will be the first time playing against this team and it will not be easy because they are the Digicel club champions back in PNG.

“The boys are all focused and know that their positions on the squad is not finalised so they need to prove themselves.

“Our fitness test will be held on January 10 so they have a fixed set of time to work on their off- season training.”

Preparation’s key for the Nadi Aviators as Tawake said they were going against a higher calibre team.

“We have seen the footage of the Sabeto Roosters game when they played in PNG and we know what we will be going up against,” he said.

“For us, preparation is key, the better we are prepared the greater chance we have of doing well in that match.

“The PNG team looks slim and fit and we know that they will be quick and we need to get fit or better than them.

“The boys have made a lot of sacrifices to be a part of this team and they are really looking forward to playing their first match in February.”

The Nadi Aviators will march into camp on February 6 before their game on February 17 against the Snax Tigers. Edited by Osea Bola
