RAJKOT: The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) took the custody of fake currency racket mastermind Jignesh Shah from Botad police and brought him to the city for further questioning.
Shah, a native of Botad town and presently living in Bopal area of Ahmedabad, was on the run after Rajkot police busted the fake currency racket and the two arrested persons named him as the mastermind.
Police had seized fake notes having a face value of Rs 26.1 lakh and had arrested Hruday Jagani and Laxman Chauhan on December 26.
Police had seized a colour photocopier, paper used to print notes, scale, scissors and a hard disk from a computer.
The notes were hidden the speakers of their car seized near Hanuman Madhi area. During their interrogation, it came to light that the Rs 2,000 notes were printed in Bopal with the help of colour photocopy machine.
“We will produce Shah in the local court and seek his custody for further investigation. Shah claimed that they were in search of people who can take counterfeit notes for circulation in the market. But we want to probe how much fake notes they had printed and how many were in circulation,” said police.
