The year 2016 had its own share of hits and misses in B-Town. As the year comes to an end, here's a complete lowdown on the movies that released this year and how they faired in comparison to the previous year.

A total of 120 Hindi films were released in 2016.Comparatively, 115 films were released in 2015.

70 films did a business of 1 crore or more. Comparatively, 68 films did a business of 1 crore or more in 2015.

35 films did a business of 30 crore or more. Comparatively, 28 films did a business of 30 crore or more in 2015.

19 films did a business of 50 crore or more. Comparatively, 19 films did a business o 50 crore or more in 2015.

6 films entered the 100 Crore Club (M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Airlift, Rustom, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Housefull 3, Shivaay). Comparatively, 4 films entered the 100 Crore Club in 2015 (Bajirao Mastani
Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Dilwale, ABCD - Any Body Can Dance 2)

1 film entered the 300 Crore Club (Salman Khan's Sultan), 1 more is on the way (Aamir Khan's Dangal). Comparatively, 1 film - Bajrangi Bhaijaan - entered the 300 Crore Club and 1 film - Prem Ratan Dhan Payo - entered the 200 Crore Club in 2015.

Rs 2925 crore nett came as Box Office earnings. Comparatively, 2870 crore nett came as Box Office Earnings in 2015.

50% of the earnings in 2016 came from Top-10 Box Office grossers. Comparatively, 50% of these earnings came from Top-10 Box Office grossers in 2015.

2 All Time Blockbusters in 2016 (Sultan, Dangal). Whereas 1 All Time Blockbuster (Bajrangi Bhaijaan) and 1 Blockbuster (Tanu Weds Manu Returns) in 2015)

This year we had 6 Superhits (Airlift, Rustom, Baaghi, Neerja, Kapoor & Sons, Pink) while comparatively, in 2015 we had 3 Superhits - Bajirao Mastani, Piku, Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2.

2016 saw 5 Hits M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Housefull 3, Dear Zindagi, Ki & Ka). Comparatively, 10 Hits and Semi-Hits - Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, ABCD - Any Body Can Dance - 2, Welcome Back, Baby, Gabbar Is Back, Hate Story 3, Badlapur, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, Talvar and Dum Laga Ke Haisha in 2015.

While in 2016 no newcomers featured in a Hit, Superhit or All Time Blockbuster, comparatively, 3 newcomers - Karan Singh Grover (Hate Story 3), Kapil Sharma (Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon) and Bhumi Pednekar (Dum Laga Ke Haisha) - featured in a Hit in 2015.

In 2016,  22 films flopped whereas 15 films were flops in 2015.

44 films were disasters in 2016, comparatively, 48 films were disasters in 2015.

2 films had paid previews; none couldn't cover much distance (Rocky Handsome, A Flying Jatt). Comparatively, 0 films had a Paid Preview in 2015.

1 sequel was a clean success (Housefull 3). Comparatively, 3 sequels - Tanu Weds Manu Returns, ABCD - Any Body Can Dance - 2, Welcome Back, Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 and Hate Story 3)  were clean successes in 2015)
