Firozabad: The eight-member CBI team, which was in the city to investigate the mysterious death of Sara Singh, wife of Amanmani Tripathi, son of former UP minister Amarmani Tripathi, had left after recording statements of eyewitness and doctors and staff of the hospital who conducted the postmortem. The investigating agency was also able to locate the ‘student’ whom Amanmani had allegedly tried to save from getting hit by the car in which he was travelling with Sara at the time of accident.
The girl was identified as Neelam Baghel, a resident of Nagla Khushali, 10 km from Sirsagang. She is student of MD Girls Inter College. Sources said she told CBI officials that she was hit by a car when she was returning home. To a query about the presence of a woman in the car, she said that she did not notice and hurriedly went away from the spot.
Sources added that CBI tried to make the girl a witness in the case, but her family refused to do so.
The CBI officials also recorded the statement of the driver who had brought Sara to the district hospital in his car. Driver Arjun Yadav said he was standing at Sirsaganj bus stand when he was approached by a person asking him to ferry an injured woman to hospital. Arjun went with him and put the woman on the back seat of the Tata Magic van. He was paid for providing the service. He said he was not aware whether the woman was alive or dead.
The CBI team also visited the district hospital where the body of Sara was brought after the accident, and recorded the statements of doctors and other employees of the hospital who conducted postmortem. An inspection of the spot was also carried out. The CBI team headed by ASP Santosh Kumar Yadav also interacted with the shop owners near the accident spot.
Sara was killed in a car accident on July 9, 2015 at Sirsaganj, while her husband, who was driving, escaped unhurt. Amanmani had claimed that the car overturned while trying to save a student crossing the road. On July 18, Sara's mother, Seema Singh, lodged a murder case against Amanmani and his father at Sirsaganj police station in Firozabad. She alleged that her daughter was the victim of a conspiracy hatched by Amanmani and his father Amarmani.

Alleging that her daughter had been unhappy with her marriage, Seema Singh had pointed to the postmortem report, which suggested that Sara's lungs and ribs were damaged before she died.
Singh on Thursday reiterated that Amanmani had stage-managed the death of Sara. "She was murdered somewhere else and her body was bought to the accident spot. I have heard that the Samajwadi Party might give him the party ticket in the upcoming assembly elections. I will oppose this move if it happens," she added.
