DEHRADUN: Harish Rawat’s move to order a judicial probe into the alleged financial irregularities in the Kedarnath tragedy’s relief and rescue operations has failed to impress opposition BJP, which has now dared the chief minister to recommend a CBI probe against his former secretary Mohammad Shahid, who was allegedly caught brokering a deal of a liquor license in a sting video.
“I dare chief minister Rawat to recommend a CBI probe into the sting video case in which his secretary was caught discussing a liquor license deal.
But, the CM will not do it because he will get embroiled in the case,” former MLA Harak Singh Rawat said.
Addressing a rally in the state capital on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged that documents were forged to claim more funds during the 2013 natural calamity, prompting chief minister Rawat to order judicial probe next day.
Meanwhile, BJP state president Ajay Bhatt said: “The State Information Commissioner had recommended a CBI probe into the misuse of the funds, but the CM did not approve of it and asked the chief secretary to probe the allegations. The fact is that the chief minister is not serious about any probe.”
