Learn to deal with ironies of life

We live in a world of ironies and paradoxes. To start with, the moment we are born, death awaits us. With every passing day, the rich are getting richer and poor are getting poorer. The rich are forced to restrict themselves to a simple diet free from fat while the poor on the other hand have to go for similar diet because they can not afford it.

The poor have to walk long distances to save money because they cannot afford personal vehicle. The rich, on the other hand, are advised to go for long walks to stay fit. The poor remain away from their families due to their financial responsibilities, whereas the rich are unable to live together under the same roof because of ego clashes within their family. The poor are afflicted by physical disorders due to malnutrition, the rich undergo similar suffering for over eating or indulgence.

How can one deal with such ironies of life? The best way to get over these is to be a karma yogi. Remember! We are all human beings and not human doings. A karma yogi is a perfect combination of action and detachment. He is a person, who while performing actions does not get bogged down on results or untoward expectations from the instruments used in performing actions.

All his actions are performed in the awareness of one’s true identity of being a soul. When our actions are performed with inner consciousness, in the experience of one’s true nature of being love-filled, peaceful, pure and powerful beings, then we do not feel the need for many physical comforts in life as we derive satisfaction from within, hence their availability does not create longing and make us their slave and their absence does not torment us to take away the peace of mind. So practice being a “Karmayogi” to ride over all the ironies in life and live above sickness of craving or over indulgence to live a healthy and happy life.
