In less than a decade films representing superior stories and content have been churning out of Bollywood. The Hindi film industry is progressively changing in its landscape with a growing audience for real life stories which are close to reality and have been winning awards in great numbers at various platforms across the globe. As we foray into 2017, we take a look at indie films we can’t wait to watch in 2017!

Death in the gunj
Death in the gunj directed by Konkana Sen Sharma is going to be one of the movies which will leave a mark on our memories in 2k17.

Haraamkhor
Haraamkhor which struggles for the censor certificate has made it to the list of Indie films and is going to spread a very positive message this new year. With such star cast it definitely can not go wrong.

Ribbon
Ribbon starring Kalki Koechlin and Sumeet Vyas which is directed by Rakhee Sandilya is one of the movies a movie buff should not miss watching as it has a very fresh pairing and both are brilliant actors.

The Ashram
The Ashram is produced the only women producer Guneet Monga for which she has roped in Kal Penn and Radhika Apte and it is going to be a spiritual fantasy thriller and will surely make us sit on the edge of our seats.

Nimmo
Starring Anjali Patil, Anand L Rai is back with his next heart warming production called Nimmo. After the surprise hit Nil Battey Sanata, Nimmo is the story of an 8 year old boy who falls in love with a much older woman. South superstar Dhanush is said to have a special cameo in the film

Begum Jaan
A remake of a popular Bengali film, this Srijit Mukherji’s directorial stars Vidya Balan and is produced by Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt. Its a true historical drama where a brothel during the partition of India and Pakistan was torn between two nations in 1947.

Newton
Starring another indie favourite, Rajkumarr Rao, stars in Newton produced by Manish Mundhra who has backed films like Masaan in the past. The film is a black comedy of a small town boy who wishes to make something of himself and sets on a journey to a jungle infested with Naxals

Mantra
Starring a stellar cast of Kalki Kochelin, Rajat Kapoor, Shiv Pandit and Adil Hussain, the film is set in 2004 which takes a look at the India which opened up its door to Globalisation and its impact on the people of India.
