Terming the Congress rally in Dharamshala as “historic”, Minister for Urban Development, Housing and Town and Country Planning Sudhir Sharma said it gave the message that people of the state had faith in this government and they would again vote in favour of the Congress in the next Assembly poll.

In a statement here today, he said the present Congress government had been able to deliver goods as per the aspirations of people and all sections of society had been benefitted by its policies.

Sharma said it was a matter of pride for the state that it had been declared the second open defecation-free state of the country. Recently, the state had been given the “State of the States” award for education and inclusive growth in the category of big states. “Moreover, the state has been adjudged as number one in education, health, social economic equality, employment generation, infrastructural development, roads, power and irrigation etc. sectors for inclusive development in the country,” he said.

The minister said the state government was making all efforts to make Himachal Pradesh as a model of urban development in the category of hilly states. To ensure a systematic development of Dharamsala city, it has been given the status of Municipal Corporation, he said.
