An equestrian display by students was the major attraction of the annual sports day of Delhi Public School, Ranipur, here today.

From pyramid formation to flag and ring picking, horse riders Bhavya, Siddharth, Satyam, Lakshya and Prashant mesmerised the audience with spectacular display of horse riding.

Earlier, pro vice-chairman of Delhi Public Schoool IJS Sandhu inaugurated the sports meet by hoisting the DPS Society flag amidst traditional march past by 360 students of Class II-XI.

In his address, school principal KC Pandey said the younger generation was getting inclined towards sports in recent times as apart from providence of sporting infrastructure, career avenues had increased manifolds.

“From Olympics ,Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, World Championships to SAF games, Indian sportspersons are stamping their authority in various sporting disciples, such as wrestling, shooting, boxing, archery, badminton and cannoying to name a few. To become a global superpower, sporting power is also essential as it reflects a healthier society and younger generation,” Pandey said.

Sports captain Jishnu Bal, Rishika and Tanisq lighted the sporting flame at the ground. Yoga asanas were exhibited by 220 students of junior wing and 700 students from middle wing.

In various athletic events, Sujal Metiyan, Arthav Kumar, Vihan Raj Singh, Utkarsh, Laxya, Atharv, Ananya, Ridhama, Aditi, Hardik, Gaurish, Navya Bhaseen, Dev Roopa, Sanvi, Anshika, Mahak, Poorvi, Ishani, Keerti, Akanksha, Vaishali, Ishita, Mitali, Swati, Yatharth Kukreti, Astitva Negi, Ansh Yadav, Manan Arora, Akshit, Ayush, Abhinav, Aarush, Pari Sharma, Rakshita, Saloni Negi, Abhishek, Ayush, Sughandam, Izaj, Milind, Ujjwal, Debashish Giri, Mayank, Yuvraj, Niyati, Manasvi, Aradhya, Jharna, Tripti, Khushi, Jhanvi, Shreyanshi Muskan, Savigya, Jigyasha, Sunny Kumar, Jishnu and Dhruv were adjudged winners.

RK Dwivedi, Atul Saxena, Laissa Sebastian, RDS Negi, GS Bisht, Bipendra Singh and Parvinder Singh were present on the occasion.
