Bhilai-Charoda Chhatisgarh Municipal Elections 2016: Polling for Nagar Palika started, counting on December 30

According to reports in Bhilai-Charoda Chhattisgarh Municipal Elections, there are eight candidates in fray for the Mayor post.

Bhilai-Charoda Chhatisgarh Municipal Elections 2016: Polling for Nagar Palika started, counting on December 30

New Delhi, December 27: The voting for Bhilai-Charoda Chhattisgarh Municipal Elections 2016 (Nagar Palika) has just started and the counting procedure for same will start on December 30, said Election Commission officials.

Earlier this month the Chhattisgarh State Election Commission under Chhattisgarh Municipal Corporation Act and Corporation Rule issued notification regarding the election of Mayor and Corporators of Bhilai-Charoda Municipality. The formal announcement was made by the Election Commissioner on December 5. On the same day an announcement was made regarding the reservation of seats and the list of election centres.

According to reports in Bhilai-Charoda Chhattisgarh Municipal Elections, there are eight candidates in fray for the Mayor post. Their name is Urmila Banjare, Geeta Baghel, Chandrakanta Mandle (BJP), Jyoti Banjare (Indian National Congress), Pushpa Gendare, Ragini Devi Soni, Baleshwari Vadekar and Resham Jangde.

Also three rebel leaders from BJP – Pushpa Gendare, Baleshwari Vadekar and Geeta Baghel – had earlier filed the B-form and declared to fight the election as independent candidates which further makes the fight tougher. The number of aspirants for corporators seeking seats for the 40 wards under the BCMC has been reduced to 174.

Last month, Brijmohan Agrawal a senior BJP Minister in Chhatisgarh had said that the BJP would notch down an easy win in the Bhilai-Charoda Municipal Polls. The state election commission also confirmed that the counting for the election will begin on December 30 and most likely the easily will be declared on the same day.

On the other side the Gram Panchayat Elections in Gujarat has already begun today morning and the fate of those fighting elections will be declared on December 29.
