THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Writer Perumbadavam Sreedharan was presented the Esenin Award on the closing day of the ‘Festival of Russian Language and Literature in India’ here. Vladimir Dementiev, director, Russian Cultural Centre, Mumbai, presented him the award.

The annual Esenin Award, which commemorates Russian lyric poet Sergei Esenin, is instituted by the Russian Cultural Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, and the Moscow State Esenin Museum. The  Festival of Russian Language and Literature in India had begun in Thiruvananthapuram on December 14.
Organised jointly by the Honorary Russian Consulate, Russian Cultural Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, and Foundation Russkiy Mir, the festival consisted of film screenings, seminars and competitions for students of the Russian language in the state. Shashi Tharoor MP, Deputy Speaker V Sasi, Culture Secretary Rani George and Honorary Russian Consul Ratheesh C Nair spoke.
