Khap bans liquor in 40 Dadri villages

CHARKHI DADRI: Sangwan Khap of the district has passed a resolution to ban the sale of liquor in 40 villages under its influence. The decision was taken by the khap members at a meeting a Kheri Bura village of the district yesterday.

Sangwan Khap of the district has passed a resolution to ban the sale of liquor in 40 villages under its influence. The decision was taken by the khap members at a meeting a Kheri Bura village of the district yesterday.

Col Rishal Singh (retd), khap head, told the media that a resolution was passed by the khap members a copy of which would be handed over to the district Excise Department.

On the need to ban liquor, Rishal Singh said liquor consumption caused troubles to women and other family members. He said the khap had also decided to restrict the playing of DJ, dance on high volume music and rash driving during wedding occasions.

The khap members said they wanted the groom and bride to set a right precedent of others by planting a sapling and pledging to save the girl child on their marriage.
