Singer George Michael dies at 53: Elton John, Vishal Dadlani, Esha Gupta, Madonna offer condolences on social media
George Michael died at his home on December 25, 2016.
George Michael was a popular singer specially known for his songs like Last Christmas and Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go. The death of the British pop star came as a shock to many around the world. He rose to fame with Wham! with Andrew Ridgeley during the 80s and now his death over this Christmas period has left many hearts disheartened. George’s publicist Cindi Berger on Sunday (December 25) confirmed that George Michael passed away. The singer died at his home in Goring, England, he was 53. George’s publicist even confirmed that the pop icon had not been ill.
The death of George Michael raised many questions. But the singer’s manager Michael Lippman revealed that the reason behind this was heart failure. George’s family issued a statement through Thames Valley Police saying that the pop star “It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.” The police said in a statement, “Thames Valley Police were called to a property in Goring-on-Thames shortly before 2pm Christmas Day. Sadly, a 53-year-old man was confirmed deceased at the scene,” reports The Telegraph.
The report also stated that the death is being treated as ‘unexplained but not suspicious’ and a ‘post mortem will be undertaken in due course’.
