AHMEDABAD: Seeking justice for family members of a middle-aged woman of Mandvi village in Gariyadhar taluka of Bhavnagar district who was allegedly raped and murdered on December 2, Patidars have intensified their protest.
A fake letter claiming the deceased woman’s kin had written it surfaced earlier on Sunday. The letter expresses hope in the state government that it will ensure justice in the case.
However, the family members of the victim vehemently denied writing any such letter and said it is an effort to suppress the truth.
Meanwhile, Atul Patel, member of Patidar Lions Group and Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) and a close aide of its convener Hardik Patel, on Sunday, announced that they will take out a march from New Ranip area to Ahmedabad district collectorate where Patidars will submit a memorandum to the collector.
Earlier in the day, a letter claiming to be written by the elder brother of the victim was circulating on social media. The letter said: “We request political parties like the BJP, Congress, AAP or NCP and various social organisations not to hold any rally or protest programme or fast on our behalf. Deputy chief minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, should not visit us.”
“Probe in this case is progressing on the right track. If we need any help, we will let you know. We are thankful to all who have shared our grief. ,” the letter reads.
Delhi deputy CM to meet victims today
Deputy chief minister of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Manish Sisodia, will visit the family members of the Mandavi village rape and murder victim on Monday. Sisodia is the first political leader from outside Gujarat to visit the kin of the victim. A statement from Gujarat unit of AAP said that Sisodia will visit the family of the victim on Monday. The family members also confirmed this.
