Former MNS corporator joins Shiv Sena ahead of BMC poll

MUMBAI: It could be jolt to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in stronghold Dadar (W)-Mahim area ahead of the BMC poll scheduled in February 2017. MNS Vibhag pramukh and former corporator Prakash Patankar joined Shiv Sena with his over 1700 party workers in presence of Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray at Matoshree residence, on Sunday.
Patankar presently holding Mahim area Vibhag Pramukh post in MNS was denied ticket by the party in the last civic poll in 2012.
“It seems, MNS didn’t like people who are hardworking instead it likes those who make publicity stunts,” said Patankar. He also clarified that he is not against the party chief Raj Thackeray but upset with those who feed wrong information to party chief.
Former corporator Patankar was with Sena since 1990 and working with MNS after Raj Thackeray formed the party in 2005. He served as a corporator for two years 2010-2012 after then the Sena corporator was disqualified on the ground of caste certificate. “I will now work for the Sena and will try that all Sena candidates contesting BMC poll from Mahim assembly constituency get elected,” he said.
