Three booked for cheating man of Rs 12 lakh

A complaint of cheating was registered at Bapod police station by Chirag Thakkar, a resident of Waghodiya Road, after three persons took Rs 12 lakh in form of invalidated notes from him and did not return the new notes after promising him.

VADODARA: A complaint of cheating was registered at Bapod police station by Chirag Thakkar, a resident of Waghodiya Road, after three persons took Rs 12 lakh in form of invalidated notes from him and did not return the new notes after promising him.
Thakkar told the police that he had Rs 12 lakh in the form of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 that were invalidated by the government last month.
Mukesh Bharwad, Jayesh Bharwad, both residents of Kishanwadi and an unidentified person told Thakkar that they will help him to exchange the notes from the bank.

Since Thakkar’s friend Gajendra knew the trio, he gave him the cash on November 25. As days passed, Thakkar asked for the exchanged money from them but the accused kept delaying.
After few days, they told Thakkar that instead of cash they will give him a piece of land but after some days then even kept delaying.
On December 23, Thakkar finally registered a complaint with the police.
