Rachakonda team all set to start ‘SHE for HER’

Where two students will be picked from each edu institution and trained to fight eve-teasing and other crimes in schools, colleges

HYDERABAD: Stating that a lot of awareness needs to be created among public with respect to safety of women, senior IPS officer and director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVP NPA) Aruna M Bahuguna appealed to women victims to come forward in lodging complaints.

Aruna Bahuguna was the chief guest at an event to commemorate completion of six months of the Rachakonda Commissionerate SHE teams, held at LB Nagar on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that SHE teams help the women by providing safety and secure measures. If any woman is facing harassment from miscreants, they can come forward in lodging complaint with the police to sought justice and to punish such miscreants. The NPA director launched the SHE teams Logo on the occasion.
The Telangana State Crime Investigation Department (CID) Inspector General (IG) Sowmya Mishra, who launched the facebook page of SHE team of Rachakonda police, said that the state government introduced SHE teams for providing safety of women in the state.
With SHE teams working perfectly by taking stern action against miscreants, it would help in reducing the crime against women.

The Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagavat said that around 600 cases have been registered in last six months and it was revealed that most of the eve-teasing cases are found in colleges and schools.
“Rachakonda SHE teams are all set to start a programme “SHE for HER” in which two students will be selected from each college and will be trained by SHE teams to fight against the eve-teasing crimes in colleges. It will help us in preventing the offences of crime against women,” Mahesh M Bhagavat felt.
