Rajendra addresses Police Durbar at Srinagar, stresses on enhancing proficiencies

Director General of Police (DGP), K.  Rajendra Kumar has asserted that Jammu and Kashmir Police would continue its efforts to enhance its proficiencies in public service, besides ensuring safety and security of the people of the State.Mr. Rajendra was addressing a maiden police Durbar at District Police Lines here today in which a large number of police jawans and officers participated. He urged the Jawans to make public service their motive and strengthen bonds with the people to make the efforts more fruitful in maintaining peace and order in the State. He said that Jammu and Kashmir, despite bigger challenges, has remained on fore front in minimising the difficulties of the people in hostile situation. The force has offered sacrifices of its valiant Jawans and officers, while keeping the flag of the Nation afloat, besides safeguarding the life and property of the people, added Mr. Rajendra.Appreciating the dedication of Jawans and officers, DGP said that JKP has demonstrated high standards of discipline, while facing tough situations during maintenance of law and order in the State. He said that it was due to the coordinated efforts put in place by JKP and other security agencies that the law and order situation in the State has evolved positively, besides people’s yearning for peace and normalcy. 

Unrest in the valley during the recent months was a bigger challenge for the force and JKP stood the test despite of provocations by the anti-social and other elements, inimical to peace. Police and other security personnel sustained injuries as a result of violence, however they exhibited high sense of professionalism and discipline to bring peace and public order, said the DGP.Talking about the welfare measures, Mr. Rajendra said that welfare of Jawans has remained on top of our agenda and the department, with the generous support of the State and Central Governments has succeeded in enhancing working and living conditions of the personnel and their families. Various welfare initiatives were taken to benefit the serving personnel and the families of martyrs. He said that efforts are on foot to finalise the other pending issues related to the welfare of the police personnel.On the occasion, Mr. Rajendra, decorated jawans and officer who have been promoted with higher ranks for their exemplary performance in maintaining public order and ensuring safety of people and public property.Earlier, IGP Kashmir Zone, SJM Gillani welcomed the DGP and others senior officers for taking a maiden Durbar of jawans and officers.Later, DGP, accompanied by Special DG Coordination/Law & Order, Dr. S. P. Vaid, chaired officers meeting and discussed various issues related to the maintenance of law and order in the Valley. He stressed for continuing efforts in coordination with other security agencies to keep peace and order maintained. He appreciated the strategy followed by the forces to control the violent protests, exhibiting restraint and avoiding collateral damages. Besides others, the meeting and durbar was attended by DIG, S. P. Pani, SSP Srinagar, Amit Kumar, AIG (Personnel), Dr. Haseeb Mughal, SP, Waseem Qadri, Dy. SsP, Feroz Ahmed Qadri and Ashiq Hussain Tak.
