Transneft' : Specialists of Middle Ob branch of Svyaztransneft commission standby communication system of Zapolyarye – Purpe pipeline

The Middle Ob branch of Svyaztransneft (based in Surgut) has completed the next stage of construction of a communications network for the Zapolyarye - Purpe pipeline.

As part of the project 'Pipeline system Zapolyarye - Purpe oil pump station (PS). Communications network', a digital radio-relay line of communications (DRRL) was commissioned. This is a standby communications system for the trunk fibre-optic communications link (FOCL) on the oil pipeline from the communications centre 'Korotchayevo Production Service Shop and Central Maintenance Division (PSS and CMD)' to the communications centre 'Main Oil Pump Station (MPS) No. 1.'

The new communications link having the length of 274 km comprises 11 spans. In the course of construction, data transmission equipment was installed on 12 antenna-mast structures (AMS). It includes parabolic antennas having the diameter of 1 m with double polarisation, external radio blocks as well as access indoor modules installed in the premises of communications centres. The terminals of the digital radio-relay station (DRRS) have the 2+0 configuration in the XPOL (Cross Polarised) mode and provide data transmission rate of 200 Mbit/sec. The monitoring and control are performed by the regional control centre of the branch.

The built communications link ensures process control of the Zapolyarye - Purpe oil trunk pipeline, centralized supervision of the production and administrative activities of the pipeline's maintenance divisions and business units of the Transneft subsidiary as well as engagement with neighbouring or integrated enterprises, law enforcement structures, and other companies and entities involved in ensuring the effective and safe operation of the oil pipeline.

The DRRL launch marked the commissioning of all communications links and systems in accordance with the project 'Pipeline system Zapolyarye - Purpe PS. Communications Network', having the length of 600 km.
