KALABURAGI: A road accident where a Chevrolet Tavera MUV overturned at Belur village of Jewargi taluk, helped police solve a kidnap case.

As the vehicle overturned, weapons like machete, knife, pouch of a revolver and fake police uniforms fell on the road. Suspecting foul play, the villagers caught hold of the people and handed them over to the police.
Later, when questioned by the villagers, the people travelling in the vehicle said they kidnapped Siddalingappa, a villager of Hasanapur of Kalaburagi taluk and were taking him to Sindagi of Vijayapura district.

It is said there was a dispute between Balaram of Otihal village of Sindagi taluk and Siddalingappa of Hasnapur village over money matters and due to this, Balaram kidnapped Siddalingappa and was taking him to Sindagi.
Another version is that Balaram was in love with the Siddalingappa’s sister and as Siddalingappa opposed this, Balaram kidnapped him.
In the road accident, Siddalingappa sustained injuries and is being treated at Jewargi taluk hospital.
