BJP demands action against cops for lathicharge

DEHRADUN: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists submitted a memorandum to DGP MA Ganapathy here today demanding action against the policemen who had allegedly resorted to a lathicharge on party workers in Golapaar, Haldwani, on Tuesday.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists submitted a memorandum to DGP MA Ganapathy here today demanding action against the policemen who had allegedly resorted to a lathicharge on party workers in Golapaar, Haldwani, on Tuesday.

The delegation, led by Uttarakhand BJP general secretary Naresh Bansal, submitted a memorandum stating that the the state Congress government was misusing the police to settle scores with the BJP. He said the party workers were thrashed severely.

“Our party workers were protesting peacefully on December 18 against the inauguration of the incomplete stadium at Golapaar, which was not liked by a Congress Cabinet minister. Later, the police was told to drive away the BJP workers. Our workers were badly beaten up,” said Bansal.
