Lens on two mentally ill women for 5-year-old girl's murder
MUMBAI: The Byculla police probing the murder of a five-year-old girl who was thrown off the 15th floor of a Mhada building on Monday, suspect the role of two women residents who are said to be mentally disturbed.
On Monday afternoon, an unknown person allegedly threw Manvi Ingale, daughter of a woman police constable, from the 15th floor of the 22-storey New Hind Mhada Colony in Byculla.
The incident happened when Manvi, a junior kindergarten student, was playing in the corridor while her father, Ashok, was at home.
Manvi’s mother Arti, a police constable attached to the Worli traffic police headquarters, had left home at 7 am for duty.
Two weeks ago, Arti had complained to Byculla police station that one of the mentally disturbed women neighbours had set Manvi’s school uniform clothes on fire when they were put out for drying in the corridor. “We are also trying to find out about disputes and who could be behind this,” a police officer said.
The body was handed over the the family on Tuesday after postmortem.tnn
