AMRITSAR: Pakistan government will set up Guru Nanak International Inter-faith Harmony Centre at Kartarpur Sahib in Narowal district of Pakistan to promote dialogue and understanding between people of different faiths.
While talking to TOI on Tuesday, member of Punjab (Pakistan) Provincial assembly Ramesh Singh Arora informed that Pakistan’s federal minister for planning, development and reform Ahsan Iqbal had made the announcement about setting up the centre near Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib during his visit to Gurdwara.

He informed that Ahsan was accompanied by his son Ahmad Iqbal who had gone to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib after being elected as the chairman of the district council Narowal.
He informed that the proposed centre would have scholars from Hindu, Sikh, Christian and Muslim religions who would impart education on faiths, traditions, culture etc.
“Ahsan Iqbal also announced to rope in Narowal campus of University of Gujrat for carrying out research work besides preparing courses for the centre” he said.
He informed that the centre would be set up near Gurdwara Darbar Sahib for which cost estimation has been sent to the government.
He also informed that Narowal administration had chalked out a master plan for the development of Narowal which was about 16 kilometers from Kartarpur Sahib Village and where Sikh’s first master Guru Nanak Dev had spent last 17 years of his life.
‘Special care has been taken to provide state of art facilities to devotees arriving here on various religious occasions’ he said.
Arora also informed that master plan was prepared keeping in view the 500th year’s celebration of setting up of Kartarpur Sahib village in 2022. The village was founded by Guru Nanak Dev in 1522.
