Honda launched the sixth-generation City in 2013, with two engine options, a new 1.5 litre Earth Dreams i-DTEC turbodiesel and a 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol unit. Now the car manufacturer is expected to launch a facelift version of the Honda City, which is likely to get a new front fascia along with some new features.

The new-generation Honda City will also receive minor cosmetic changes inside the cabin. One of the major highlights inside the cabin will be a new and big touchscreen infotainment system that has been jointly developed by Blaupunkt and Honda. The system is expected to feature Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity along with USB, AUX-in, Bluetooth and navigation. Other features will include standard dual airbags and ABS with EBD, while the higher versions might get six airbags and leather seat upholstery and trims.

At the exterior, the new Honda City will receive a new design language, which also features on the new Honda Accord and the Civic (in international markets). It will boast of a new front fascia that features a sharper bumper and bonnet with multiple lines that reflect a busy design. The LED headlamps will remain unchanged, but will get new projector lamps. The fog lamps, on the other hand, gets new housing placed on the bumper along with larger air vents. The side profile of the car with sharply raked creases and a new set of alloy wheels make it look bolder than before. Th rear end will also get minor changes like a slightly redesigned bumper and tail lamps. Dimensionally, the car is expected to remain the same, along with the same ground clearance seen on the present car.

The carmaker has not disclosed anything about powertrain options and changes that will be offered along with the new City but we expect the same petrol and diesel engine to continue powering the car in their present state along with a manual gearbox and CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) unit. However, given the growing popularity of micro and mild hybrids and the available rebates from the government, the company might introduce one of these two technologies. The new Honda City, when launched in India in mid-2017, is expected to be priced between Rs 8.5 lakh to Rs 13.5 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
