Jagga Jasoos Trailer: Ranbir Kapoor’s opening scene copied from Alaa Wardi’s ‘Pehla Nasha’ video! We got Proof!
Ranbir Kapoor in Jagga Jasoos

We got the first glimpse inside the World of Jagga Jasoos today! The film is a musical adventure and stars Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. Directed by Anurag Basu, the film promises to take you on a fun ride when it releases in theatres in summer next year on 7 April, 2017. The film’s trailer however will leave you confused. Ranbir Kapoor’s character looks goofy and appears to be copying Kaabil star Hrithik Roshan’s character from Koi Mil Gaya.

Also, he reminds you of Harry Potter, sans his magic wand. The film Jagga Jasoos also has a strong Barfi hangover. Blame it on the director perhaps! It can be recalled that while audience loved the Ranbir Kapoor – Priyanka Chopra starrer Barfi, the movie received a lot of flak for copying some of the most iconic scenes from several films from Hollywood and world cinema. Some of the most noted scenes were taken from films like Charlie Chaplin’s The Adventurer, The Notebook and Singin’ in the Rain amongst others.

The makers called it inspiration! This time with Jagga Jasoos, they have once again seem to have taken inspiration from a Saudi Arabian cappella artist Alaa Wardi. The artist is a popular name in India since he became a YouTube sensation with the cover of Aamir Khan’s hit romantic number Pehla Nasha. The opening scene from Jagga Jasoos’ trailer which has Ranbir Kapoor cappelling in six frames is a direct lift from Alaa Wardi’s Pehla Nasha video. And we are highly disappointed! Just when you expect something amazing, unique and original from a director – actor duo like Anurag Basu – Ranbir Kapoor, they come up with something that we have already seen! Take a look at the below two videos and decide for yourself!
