ISLAMABAD-All the seeded players comfortably moved into the second round of the Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan Asian Tennis Tour 2016, second leg played here at Senator Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex on Monday.

Aman Atiq, Muzammil Murtaza, Aqeel Khan, Faizan Khurram, Zaid Mujahid, Muhammad Abid, Mudasir Murtaza and Heera Ashiq advanced to next round. Top seed Aqeel maintained his winning streak. Although he faced stiff resistance from Abdal Haider, who gave tough time to Aqeel in the first set, but unfortunately he got injured and had to retire in the second set. Aqeel took the set 7-6 (1) and was leading 1-0 when Abdal shook hands with him due to ankle injury.

Muzammil showed consistency as he once again inflicted upset victory on Yasir Khan, who had loads of Davis Cup experience behind his back, but Muzammil was simply outstanding, as the youngster won the match 6-4 and 6-4.

In other men’s singles first round matches, Aman Atiq beat Haris Irfanul Haq 6-1, 6-3, Faizan Khurram beat Barkat Ullah 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, Zaid Mujahid beat Kashanul Haq 6-2, 6-1, M Abid beat Sahibzada M Ali 6-1,6-1, Mudassar Murtaza beat Yousaf Khalil 6-4, 6-3 and Heera Ashiq beat Usman Rafique 6-0, 6-1.
