Kasper Schmeichel identified as the man to solve Liverpool's keeping woes

The transfer window might be shut, but don't think the wheeling and dealing won't continue! Check out all the latest deals here.

Klopp's Schmeichel solution

It has not been a good year for Liverpool goalkeepers, but 2017 could get even worse for Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet with Jurgen Klopp eyeing a move for Leicester City's Kasper Schmeichel.

Schmeichel, a Premier League title winner with the Foxes, is seen as just the kind of experienced and reliable man that Liverpool need between the sticks if they are to seriously challenge for major honours.

The Sun reckons enquiries have already been made about bringing Schmeichel, the son of Manchester United legend Peter, to Anfield but it could take an offer in the region of £20 million to do that midseason.

Reus stopgap if Sanchez or Ozil depart

Losing either Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil would be a big blow for Arsenal, but it could have an upside, if, as the Telegraph claims, Marco Reus is lined up as a replacement.

It has been widely reported that the Gunners may not be able to hold on to both of their star players, with ongoing contract talks proving problematic.

But 27-year-old Reus appears to offer a solution in terms of replicating Sanchez's goals and Ozil's creativity. The Borussia Dortmund forward has only made eight appearances this season because of injury, but he has weighed in with four goals and four assists. He has also notched 20 or more goals in two of the last three seasons at club level.

Hammers sniffing around Batshuayi

Michy Batshuayi's beginning to life at Chelsea has been an understated one. The striker has only made three starts since arriving from Marseille on a five-year deal for a fee reported to be in the region of £33 million.

But although Antonio Conte has no plans to promote the Belgian into the first team on a regular basis any time soon, he is unwilling to let him go on loan either, the Guardian claims, because he believes that training with the likes of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard on a daily basis is better for his development.

West Ham United are known admirers of Batshuayi, who will deputise for the suspended Costa in the Premier League game against Bournemouth on Dec. 26. And keeping the 23-year-old as Costa's deputy could be a wise move as the title race heats up in the final months of the season.

Roma to cash in on Rudiger

Antonio Rudiger has emerged as a January transfer target for Manchester United and Chelsea, the Sun claims, with Roma facing the prospect of having to sell in order to balance the books.

Germany international Rudiger has proven his fitness for Roma since returning from injury at the end of October and has won seven of the 10 games he has featured in for the Serie A side, impressing Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte to boot.

The 23-year-old defender is not United's first-choice signing -- Benfica's Victor Lindelof is reportedly preferred by Mourinho -- but he could present a good option for Conte at Chelsea who saw another target, Leonardo Bonucci, sign a new long-term contract with Juventus.

Tap-ins

- Marouane Fellaini is being linked with a move to Serie A, and in particular AC Milan and Inter Milan, after being spotted in the Italian city. The Mail claims Belgium international Fellaini has only 18 months remaining on his deal and Manchester United are eager to sell while they can still recoup some kind of transfer fee after deciding against offering him an extension.

- Southampton have made a good fist of unearthing exciting talent in recent years. This is, after all, the club who introduced Sadio Mane, Virgil Van Dijk, Morgan Schneiderlin and Victor Wanyama to the Premier League. The Mirror links Claude Puel's team with a January move for 21-year-old Nice midfielder Wylan Cyprien, a man with five goals and two assists for the Ligue 1 leaders this season, so it might just be worth remembering his name.

- The Sun reports West Bromwich Albion will make a £7 million move for Aston Villa's Rudy Gestede, a 6-foot-4 aerially commanding striker well suited to the kind of tactics Tony Pulis employs. Brentford's £9m-rated Scott Hogan is lined up as Gestede's replacement at Villa Park.
