Kerala Sessions Court slaps 11 RSS members with double life sentence in murder case of DYFI activist

The Court imposed all with a fine of Rs 51,000.

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 19: The Kerala Session Court slapped 11 members of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) out of the 13 involved in the murder of Vishnu (Democratic Youth Federation of India activist) with double life imprisonment. The Court imposed all the accused with a fine of Rs 51,000. One of the accused Azam Ani is yet to come under the scanner of law.

The 11 members that have been identified include Santhosh; Manoj alias Kakkot Manoj, Biju Kumar, Renjith Kumar; Balu Mahendra, Vibin, Satheesh Kumar, Bose, Sathish, Vinod Kumar and Subhash. According to a report on New Indian Express, Sivalal has been given life term sentence. Harilal, another culprit, was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment for helping the accused ones to hide. The Sessions Court freed Arun Kumar (the 16th accused) from all charges and one of the accused Renjith, who hailed from Uliyazhthara, died during the trial.

The Court, on December 16, found 13 -members of RSS guilty in the killing of Vishnu. It is believed that Vishnu was murdered due to political vengeance. RSS members reported that Vishnu had a hand in attacking RSS members since 2001. As per prosecution, Vishnu was murdered in front of the Passport office at Kaithamukku in 2008.
