MANDYA: An alleged extra-marital affair led to a double murder at Malavalli in Mandya district. Sharavathi (43), wife of Siddegowda, and Satish (27), both residents of Nelamakanahalli, had an alleged extramarital affair for the last seven years.

A gang of four broke the main door of the house and attacked the couple with lethal weapons at 1.15 am.
Hearing the loud sound, Satish, who was half naked tried, to escape. But the miscreants stabbed him in the stomach and chest repeatedly and murdered him. Later, they slit the throat of Sharavathi.
Her 11-year-old son, who rushed to her rescue, was pushed away. The miscreants then fled the place. According to Sharavathi’s son, the masked men had come in a car.

Sharavathi, a native of Chottanahalli village, was married to Siddegowda 15 years ago and the couple have two children.
In 2009, Siddegowda was convicted in a murder case and during the time, Sharavathi developed a relationship with Satish, a coolie in their agriculture field. Her 13-year-old daughter had gone to a relative’s house on Saturday.

The bodies were shifted to government hospital for postmortem. Fingerprint experts were roped in to collect the evidence.
