Murder accused flees from mental hospital

A 35-year-old man, accused of killing his mother, absconded from Government Hospital for Mental Health near Delhi Darwaza where he was kept for treatment under police protection.

AHMEDABAD: A 35-year-old man, accused of killing his mother, absconded from Government Hospital for Mental Health near Delhi Darwaza where he was kept for treatment under police protection. The incident took place on Saturday night. City police have issued notice for him with his photograph to different police agencies.
According to Madhavpura police, Prahladji Thakor, 35, a resident of Umru village in Patan, was arrested by Takosi police station of Patan district in 2015 for murder of his mother.
As he was found mentally unstable during the trials, a sessions judge in Patan district had ordered to send him to mental health hospital to assess his mental condition and treatment. He was brought to the hospital two months ago under police protection. “According to the complaint, Thakor managed to escape the premises between 8.15 pm and 9 pm on Saturday. As the police staff accompanying him realized his long absence from the general ward, they scanned the premises but could not find him. Soon, city police control room was informed about the incident,” said an investigator. tnn
