Karnataka vs Tamil Nadu: Imminent Ravichandran Ashwin-KL Rahul face-off awaits in Ranji Trophy

New Delhi: Opener KL Rahul, who missed out on his maiden Test double hundred by a single run on Sunday, is likely to have a face-off with his India seniors Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay soon.

According to reports, Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) N Srinivasan had expressed his desire to make both Ashwin and Vijay feature in the state association's Ranji Trophy fixture against Karnataka.

Tamil Nadu, despite being one of the power centres of Indian cricket, have failed to impress in the premier domestic tournament. Their only win came way back in the 1987-88 season.

In contrast, Karnatka have won two of the last three titles, and are still considered one of the favourites to win the title this term.

“We want them to play and they are both keen to play,” a cricket portal qouted Srinivasan as saying.

The two teams meet in the quarter-finals, starting December 23, in Visakhapatnam.

Karnataka are likely to call-up both Rahul and Karun Nair for this crucial fixture.

All four players are playing in the fifth and final Test between India and England in Chennai, which last till December 20.
