Proforma overtook odds-on 'TDN Rising Star' Running Mate (Creative Cause) in early stretch and drew clear to an impressive victory in the Sugar Bowl S. at Fair Grounds. Third at 12-1 on debut Nov. 4 at Churchill, the chestnut flew home in :23.57 to graduate by a neck there Nov. 27. Let go as the distant second choice behind Running Mate, Proforma sat fifth in the early going and advanced three-wide on the far turn as the favorite surged to the lead. Rolling by that one around the three-sixteenths marker, Proforma kicked strongly clear to a convincing score. Running Mate was disqualified from second to third, elevating Divine Kaleb, who he came in on in midstretch. The winner has a weanling half-brother by Dialed In and his dam was bred back to Shackleford. Click for the Equibase.com chart.
