Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is known for dealing with controversial subjects. After making a docudrama on Veerappan, besides gangster flicks like Rakta Charitra (2010) and The Attacks of 26/11 (2013), now he has registered the title for his new film: Shashikala.

He announced this on Twitter after it was made official that Jayalalithaa’s close aide Sasikalaa will be the next general secretary of AIADMK! Varma’s series of tweets explained the developments. He wrote, “Registered my new film title: Shashikala -- the story of a very dearest closest friend of a politician and completely fictional. (sic.)”

He added that the story is going to be a ‘very very sincere’ attempt from his heart. Referring to his film as a love story, he has said it had nothing to do with fictional non-politics. “Jayalalithaa ji respected
Sasikalaa ji much more than she respected anybody else, and that proves why I should call my film Shasikala.

“Jayalalithaa seen through the eyes of Shasikala is much more poetic and honest thought than seeing Jayalalithaa only through Jayalalithaa, (sic.)” his tweet read. Interestingly, there’s a connection between RGV and Sasikalaa. Both owned video libraries, before video cassettes became popular.
Meanwhile, Shashikala, will be a take on Jayalalithaa but from the perspective of her close friend and soul sister, Sasikalaa.
