At the sari draping workshop, Shaina NC said, “Saris are pieced together in various ways. But if you deconstruct the sari, it has six yards of fabric, the pallu is attached to the waist, and the saris fit all sizes.”
Shaina explained 56 patterns of draping saris, like the ‘V’ format, Gujarati pattern with plates on the side. She also showcased a concept sari, which can be draped in seconds, and merges patterns from different cultures.
“A sari is a natural choice that belongs to us,” she said, telling people, “Don’t buy a sari only because it’s expensive and looks lovely, but it should fall lovely as it makes it different.”
Vira Savita Sancheti, chairperson of Mahavir International, and coordinators Archana Javery, Nidhi Gandhi, Neeta Gupta, Anita Patni and Meenu Bhandari, were present. Mahavir International works for the uplift of underprivileged people, provides callipers and Jaipur foot free of cost to differently abled people.
