Telfair community getting retail, dining project
SUGAR LAND – University Commons, a retail and dining hub at the southern edge of the Telfair master-planned community, is under construction.
According to Vista Companies, phase one will encompass around 160,000 sf on the northeast corner of University Blvd. and SH 59. Wescott Ave. will border the northern side while Wallingford Ave. will border the east side. The first phase will have about 750 parking spaces.
CVS, Burlington, and Michaels will anchor the first phase, and America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses, Amegy Bank, Mama Fu’s Asian House, and 1000 Degrees Pizza have also signed leases. Venetian Nails, American Dental, Coco Crepes and Mattress 1 One have signed leases as well. University Commons will have about 25 tenants total.
The 150,000-sf second phase will be on the northwest side of the same intersection, bordered by Telfair Ave. to the north.
Phase-one retailers will begin opening in August 2017, and the second-phase retailers will likely open in second quarter 2019.
