Author Chetan Bhagat’s latest book One Indian Girl has once again emerged as the best selling book of the year, in the fiction category. The book, which made the headlines much before its launch because of the hype around the author’s experiments with getting into the skin of the character, defeated the worldwide best seller Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in terms of sales, to emerge as the best selling Indian book in 2016. The latest issue of JK Rowling’s Potter series, published in the form of a screenplay, occupied the second spot on the fiction list.

1. One Indian Girl by Chetan Bhagat

Author Chetan Bhagat has been dominating the best selling books list for years now. His latest book, written from the perspective of an urban female named Radhika Mehta, has topped the charts this time as well. One Indian Girl speaks of the way the Indian society perceives women who are not considered typically nice or do not conform to the norms set by them.

2. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by JK Rowling

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child picks the story of our favourite boy wizard, 20 years after he defeated the evil wizard Voldemort. This time Harry’s kids take the center stage, as they are sent to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to start their magical education. Written in the form of a screenplay which was converted into a play staged in London, the story is different, but equally engaging.
