PUNJAB: Comrade Rattan Singh Marxwadi Chetna Kendra Inaugurated at Derabasi

R L Moudgil

CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury inaugurated the Comrade Rattan Singh Marxwadi Chetna Kendra at Derabasi on December 10, 2016 at Derabasi in district Mohali, on the first death anniversary of Comrade Rattan  Singh. Comrade Rattan Singh was the chairman of the state control commission for a long time. He donated a big chunk of land at Derabasi to the Party.  The Marxwadi Chetna Kendra will be utilised for the northern region party school and it will be an extension centre of Comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet Bhawan Party Education Centre, New Delhi.

While addressing an impressive gathering on this occasion, Yechury said the demonetisation decision of the Modi led BJP government is a total failure. Modi has put the entire nation into deep crisis by banning the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes without any proper planning and strategy. He further said that Modi is talking about demonetisation everywhere except in parliament  and  blamed him for the logjam in the parliament.  While announcing ban on notes, Modi declared a four point programme  that it will bring out black money, eliminate counterfeit currency,  end corruption and check terrorism; but he has badly failed on all the fronts.  He mentioned that according to RBI governor, 82 percent of the currency has been deposited till now and the rest will also be received by December 30.  He castigated the way in which bank officers are arranging delivery of cash in large amounts to the houses and offices of the VIPs.  He demanded that old notes should be allowed for important items till the situation gets normal.

The rally was also addressed by Charan Singh Virdi, CPI(M) state secretary, Vijay Misra, Central Committee member, Raghunath Singh, Ranbir Singh Virk, Ram Singh Nurpuri,  Bhoop Chand Channo, Sukhwinder Sekhon, state secretariat members and Chander Shekhar,  Darshan Mattoo, Dr Sher Singh, Sham Lal, Gurdarshan Singh, Mohd Sadiq, Jagir Singh Hansala, Tarsem Bhallari, Baijnath,  Harjit Kaur and others.
