BAILHONGAL : Bailhongal  police finally arrested Vittal Indi (67), who is accused of murdering his 21-year-old son and injuring his wife and daughter by firing bullets at them.


He was arrested at the Belavalli Mallamma village bus stand in Bailhongal taluk on Thursday.
During interrogation, Indi admitted to killing his son with his licenced revolver, sources said. 


Irked over a monetary issue with his son Irranna Indi (21), Indi shot him with a gun and injured his wife Anusaya (40) and daughter Preeti (19) on December 13. The incident had taken place at their residence in Nayanagar village of Bailhongal taluk.


According to police sources, Indi hid his revolver in a water pipeline passing through a field at Nayanagar. Later, he got a lift in a tractor laden with sugarcane and managed to reach Belavalli Mallamma village.


Indi is a social worker and a Right To Information (RTI) activist of his village. As he did not have healthy relationships with his relatives, he had availed a licenced revolver for his safety. Indi had five live bullets in his revolver. He  fired one bullet at Irranna, one at Preeti, two at Anusaya and one bullet was shot at a door, sources said.
