Nagpur shuttlers Ritika, Malvika, Sourabh in Junior National quarters

City's talented shuttlers Ritika Thaker, Malvika Bansod and Sourabh Kerhalkar continued their impressive showing and reached the quarterfinals in the 41st Junior National Badminton Championships at Udipi, Karnataka, on Thursday.

NAGPUR: City's talented shuttlers Ritika Thaker, Malvika Bansod and Sourabh Kerhalkar continued their impressive showing and reached the quarterfinals in the 41st Junior National Badminton Championships at Udipi, Karnataka, on Thursday.
Fifth seed Malvika thumped Aadya Variyath 21-10, 21-16 in a one-sided encounter. In another U-17 girls singles pre-quarterfinal, No. 16 seed Ritika Thaker also registered a straight-game victory over K Preethi.
While southpaw Malvika will clash with second seed Prashi Joshi, Ritika will face the challenge of Pune's Purva Barve for a spot in the semis on Friday.

The 15-year-old Ritika also sailed into the quarters of U-17 and U-19 girls doubles with her Mumbai partner Simran Singhi.
Ritika Thaker-Simran Singhi thrashed Manidipa Dey-Uthsava Palit 21-12, 21-9 in the U-17 doubles, while in the U-19 girls doubles: Ritika Thaker-Simran Singhi bt Shruti Mishra-Samriddhi Singh 17-21, 21-17, 21-9.
Second seeds Ritika and Simran will lock horns with unseeded Shabana Begam Dudekula and Megha Pothamsetty in the U-17 girls doubles quarters.
In the U-19 girls doubles, Ritika-Simran will face third seeds Riya Mookerjee and Anura Prabhudesai.

Sourabh Kerhalkar (Nagpur) and Deep Rambhiya (Thane) crushed the duo of Tanishq Kain and Satish Mohanta 21-8, 21-12 to storm into the U-19 boys doubles quarters.
The Nagpur-Thane pair of Sourabh Kerhalkar and Deep Rambhiya will run into second seeds G Krishna Prasad and Dhruv Kapila in the quarterfinal on Friday.
However, it was curtains for other city shuttlers Rashi Lambe, Mugdha Agrey and Gargi Joshi. Much was expected from Rashi and Mugdha but they failed to live up to the expectations.

U-17 girls singles: 5-Malvika Bansod bt Aadya Variyath 21-10, 21-16; 16-Ritika Thaker bt K Preethi 21-19, 21-12; 7-Rashi Lambe lost to Aashi Rawat 21-16, 19-21, 14-21.
U-17 girls doubles: 2-Ritika Thaker-Simran Singhi bt Manidipa Dey-Uthsava Palit 21-12, 21-9.
U-19 girls doubles: Ritika Thaker-Simran Singhi bt Shruti Mishra-Samriddhi Singh 17-21, 21-17, 21-9.
U-19 boys doubles: Sourabh Kerhalkar-Deep Rambhiya bt Tanishq Kain-Satish Mohanta 21-8, 21-12.
U-19 mixed doubles: Deep Rambhiya-Rashi Lambe lost to 1-D Chandra Kumar-P Sonika Sai 16-21, 19-21.
