Two from Rajasthan among five apprehended by sleuths in Delhi

Two natives from Rajasthan are among five who have been apprehended by sleuths of Delhi police crime branch and income tax when they unearthed unaccounted income of nearly Rs 3.25 crore on Wednesday.

JAIPUR: Two natives from Rajasthan are among five who have been apprehended by sleuths of Delhi police crime branch and income tax when they unearthed unaccounted income of nearly Rs 3.25 crore on Wednesday. Both were working for a salary of Rs 2,000 per day and their job was to bring and deliver suitcases full of money. The duo were working for hawala traders, as per investigations so far of the Delhi polices’ crime branch.

Acting on an information, Delhi police traced the five staying in Room no 106, 202 and 206 of Taksh Inn in Karol Bagh.
“We searched four suitcases and one cardboard carton containing demonetized currency notes in the denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000. The total cash seized was Rs 3.25 crore. In the investigation, it was found that the five, including two from Rajasthan, were working for Mumbai-based hawala operators Lalit Bhai and Bholu Bhai,” said a senior officer of Delhi police.
Those who were apprehended and interrogated included Ansari Affan, a native of Mumbai and is said to be the boss of other four including, Fazal Kausar Khan and Ansari Abuzar (both natives of Mumbai).
Asked about the two Rajasthani and their role in the case, an officer said, “The two Rajasthanis, including Ladu Ram and Mahaveer Singh, who work with the gang on a per day salary of Rs 2,000,” the officer added.
“Ladu Ram is a native of Chitalwana in Jalore district. He started a cosmetic shop near Malad railway station in Mumbai for the last 12 years. He was in search of a salaried job when he met Affan the kingpin. He was offered Rs 2,000 per day to assist in carrying and delivering cash,” said a senior officer.
On the other person, the officer, said, “Mahaveer Singh is a native of Bhatawala Purohiton Ki Thimbal of Bilara village in Jodhpur. He too came in close association with Affan almost four months ago and started assisting him in delivering and counting bundles of currency notes. He was also given a salary of Rs 2,000 per day.”
