PTI to form parliamentary board for selecting candidates

Next general elections

ISLAMABAD - Almost one and half year before the 2018 General Elections, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) yesterday decided to form its parliamentary board to select candidates throughout the country to contest for the polls.

In addition to that, PTI also formed a political committee for the mass mobilisation campaign what the party claims to utilise the break period during Panama Leaks case as the Supreme Court will hear the case not before the first week of January next year.

Chairman PTI Imran Khan would head the parliamentary board while other members of the board have yet to be appointed. PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while talking to journalists after a meeting of senior party leadership headed by Imran Khan, said that the political committee would be jointly headed by Secretary General Jehangir Khan Tareen and himself.

“We see elections much before 2018, and most probably 2017 will be election year as people want change and genuine democracy in the country,” he added.

He said that the political committee would decide future course of action of mass mobilisation campaign for which people belonging to all walks of life will be contacted.

The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is fast losing its credibility especially after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lied on the floor of parliament, he said.

Qureshi said that the PM lied on the floor of the NA, and he deliberately misled the parliament about his off-shore wealth assets and money trail about purchase of Mayfair flats in London. People no more trust in Nawaz Sharif, he said. He said that stance of Sharif family before the Supreme Court was completely opposite to what the Prime Minister said before the Parliament.

Qureshi said that PTI had established one thing before the court that Sharif family had nothing in their defence to hide their off-shore wealth irrespective of fact what the court would decide in the Panama Leaks case.
